The Heartbeat

We meet as a whole community every morning and evening. We come to hear from the One who created us. To hear His thoughts and instructions expressed through the voice of those who are gathered. We don't have altars or incense, crosses or organs. We don't sit in pews. We assemble in a circle so we can look into each others eyes when we sing, dance and speak. The root of the words circle and church is the same. We don't gather in a church... we are being the church.

We come to hear words of life. Each of us can speak... men and women, as well as the children. We are a nation of priests where all can prophesy, which means to encourage, build up and comfort. Our gatherings are about participating, just like the rest of our life. We need to hear clear words of faith and encouragement from each other everyday. We don't plan what we say, but we do prepare our hearts. We have an hour before the gathering to consider our relationships, to make sure we are right with each another, heart to heart. How else can we hear from God if we are not right with each other? Wouldn't this be our Creator's greatest desire, that those who say they love Him would demonstrate unity, and not fake it? We are then prepared to receive His words and thoughts in the gathering. Sometimes we know when to speak because we'll have a pounding heart. We speak about the realities of our life and learn how to understand them in light of the things He teaches us through His word. We thank our Father for all things... even for the difficult circumstances that have challenged us during the day.

When the time is right we come forward, raise our hands above our heads and spontaneously give thanks and praise. We do not recite the 'Lord's prayer' in rote, but pray for the essential things it says. In all of this we are are making the statement that we are unreservedly giving our lives to His cause and to one another. In order for it to not turn into a mere ritual, we must then walk it out in how we serve one another, until the next time we gather. This is what it means to present our bodies as one living sacrifice for Him. All our time, effort and strength given to Him through the day, with the right motivation. There is no value in going about our daily work with the wrong motivation.

This the heartbeat of our life...

The Twelve Tribes is a confederation of twelve self-governing tribes, composed of self-governing communities. We are disciples of the Son of God whose name in Hebrew is Yahshua. We follow the pattern of the early church in Acts 2:44 and 4:32, truly believing everything that is written in the Old and New Covenants of the Bible, and sharing all things in common.
